MOSAID Creates New Intellectual Property Division: Semiconductor business to continue as Networking Products Division

OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2001--MOSAID Technologies Inc. (TSE:MSD.) announced today the creation of an Intellectual Property Division and a Networking Products Division.

The creation of two separate divisions from the former Semiconductor Division is designed to bring greater focus and efficiency to the Company's existing patent licensing and networking chip businesses. These changes are effective immediately.

The Intellectual Property Division will concentrate on MOSAID's highly successful and rapidly expanding patent licensing program, as well as applied research and development initiatives that will expand the Company's intellectual property portfolio to support further licensing efforts. Peter Gillingham, Vice President, Business Development, Semiconductor Division - who has led MOSAID's patent licensing program - has been appointed General Manager for the new Intellectual Property Division.

The Networking Products Division will focus on the continuing commercialization of three groups of high-performance classification, switching and encryption chips for the networking market. George Cwynar, President and CEO of MOSAID, has assumed the role of acting General Manager of the Networking Products Division, until a permanent General Manager is identified.

Dan Mathers, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Company's Semiconductor Division, has left MOSAID to pursue other interests, effective immediately.

``In recent years, Intellectual Property has emerged as an important and growing part of our business, accounting for the majority of revenues from the Semiconductor Division. Our Networking Products are currently in transition from the development to revenue phase,'' explained George Cwynar, President and CEO of MOSAID. ``The creation of separate Intellectual Property and Networking Products Divisions is a natural evolution for our Company and will allow us to better focus our efforts to the benefit of both customers and shareholders.''
